Now the posts in Portuguese as well

Originally, the site Cape Old Radio was developed in English and Portuguese. The site up to now has been hosted by Geocities, a free web storage space, that is going out of business next October. The site from now on will be hosted by 1&1, a commercial server, and initially will be only in English, since most of the interactions I have is not from Brazil or Portugal, but all over the world. However, I will keep the Blog in both languages, English and Portuguese, as an opportunity for better integration and info and knowledge exchange on the old radios universe. Finished Restoring Philips models BR585AV and BR207U

After a few months of not much spare time to work on restoration I finally got both sets done.
What a difference from initial conditions. All recaped, including vibrator, pots work, rust and contacts cleaning, refinished cabinets, termites treatment, and a few resistors. Sets working nicely. Great sound quality.

I've been working on two nice Philips models BR207U and BR585 AV, both made in Brazil.

The model BR207U is in a very bad condition: both, the gray bakelite cabinet and the chassis. Chassis is completely rust. It will be necessary to remove most of the parts for cleaning and rust treatment. Cabinet old paint will be stripped and refinished with a color matching the original gray. See the situation ...

Restoring a Philips model BR585AV

Philips Model BR585 AV with a wooden cabinet was full of termites...

... so, lets get to work prety fast. First, a few days in a freezer. Next, removing and replacing damaged wood. Termites treatment of wood (Commercial Jimo Cupim), and finaly, stripping and a new finish with laquer, probabily.
